Benefits of using a Facial Oil

I'm a huge lover of facial oils. They are a  pretty integral part of my skin care routine. Both during the day and the evening. I find I can become a little overwhelmed by the options and selections brands have to offer these days. So I thought I would round up a few of my go-to's and personal favorites.

First off, why use a facial oil?
Many oils, specifically botanical oils. Marula, Argan are extremely potent antioxidants.
Many can reduce inflammation and have very calming effects on the skin.
If you apply the facial oil to the skin prior to your moisturizer the oils help delivery the ingredients from the moisturizer deeper into the skin. Allowing for better absorption. This happens because facial oils have a smaller molecule structure so they penetrate into the skin more quickly and on a deeper level than a moisturizer.

As we age the skins natural oil production decreases and your moisture barrier breaks down. Because oils are lipophilic, they pass though the lipid layer of the skin more quickly, helping to retain water and delivering moisture to the skin more quickly.

My go-to face oils;

Clarins Blue Orchard Face Treatment Oil
What it is;
A Purifying face oil made from 100% pure plant extracts
Skin Type; Dry
Soothes and restores dehydrated skin. Enhances the skins natural glow. Contains extracts such as; Rosewood, Patchouli and Blue Orchard, all which help in toning and refining the skin.

This oil can be used on all skin types, but is beneficial for a dryer skin type, because of the Hazelnut Oil. This seals in moisture and helps to combat fine lines and wrinkles.

I love both of the Clarins oils mentioned. I tend to go back and forth between them, depending on the condition of my skin and just how dry it is at the time of purchase. They both feel amazing on. I tend to use them as a part of my nighttime routine. They have a stronger smell but I find the scents both very relaxing. They are very calming and my skin feels very supple and hydrated after use. I find its the addition I need to my nightly moisturizer. It adds the perfect amount of hydration and while trying to combat any blemishes with a product that may be harsher on my skin, both oils are incredible calming.

Biossance Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil
What it is;
A Luxurious face oil that brightens, firms and evens out skin tone.
Skin Type;
Normal
Oily
Dry
Sensitive
Combination

This oil contains a Vitamin C that is 50X more powerful than ascorbic acid. It fights against free radicals and leaves your skin healthy and glowing. Squalane helps to provide maximum moisture and hydration. Ideal for dull and lackluster skin. Uneven Skin tone and loss of firmness.

I have raved about this numerous times, but have no problem doing it again. This brand and this product are incredible. I have a full review of this which I will link below. I find it incredibly hydrating and it has definitely improved the overall tone of my skin. It leaves my skin looking radiant. It is a little more on the expensive side but a very small amount goes a long way. I dispense about two drops to wet fingers and apply prior to my moisturizer as part of my morning routine. Pat onto the skin for maximum absorption

Pixi Beauty Rose Oil Blend
What it is;
An ultra nourishing oil that rejuvenates and renews skins luminosity.
Skin type- Suited for all skin types
Rose Blend Oil is infused with a powerful complex of youth-preserving oils to help improve skin's elasticity and glow.
Rosehip, jojoba, and rose geranium oils nourish the complexion, while Sweet Almond Oil helps to comfort the skin.

I love this for both the AM and PM. I tend to mix this right into my moisturizer for added hydration but also added radiance. It works wonderfully if you add one drop into a fuller coverage foundation as well, if you are looking for sheer out the coverage a little bit and add a glow to the skin.
I find this quite hydrating and it does give a lovely glow to the skin. It of course does have a very floral smell to it, so if that isn't your jam - this might not be for you. I find the consistency of this oil to be a little thinner than any of the above mentioned oils. This may be why I enjoy it mixed with my moisturizer or why it works so wonderfully when mixed with my foundation. It might also be the difference in ingredients. However for a relatively inexpensive facial oil I really love this one.
